There may still be plenty of pain before gain as Brazil’s new Temer administration attempts to steer the fragile economy out of recession.
Weak consumption and services are deepening Brazil’s recession, driving what may be a 3.7% contraction in 2016. Rising unemployment is fueling this phase, after declines in investment and manufacturing led to last year’s 3.8% drop in GDP.
