Política fiscal expansiva em consideração
March 5 (Bloomberg) -- Brazil’s government has room to cut taxes and increase public works spending to spur economic growth, Finance Minister Guido Mantega said.
The finance minister said the government can undertake “expansionary fiscal policy, with tax cuts and increasing public investment” to buttress Latin America’s biggest economy against the global financial crisis.
Against the backdrop of slowing growth and declining tax revenue, the finance minister’s remarks raise questions about the government’s commitment to maintaining its budget targets, Nick Chamie, head of emerging market research at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto, said. --
